Over the past 24 hours, reports from the Italian media have been claiming Chelsea are now open to a potential exchange for Romelu Lukaku.
With Juventus trying to include Dusan Vlahovic in the deal, it’s been said the clubs should now negotiate the difference between the price for the two strikers.
Italian outlet Calcio Mercato today features a piece about that. They bring a long list of numbers explaining how much Chelsea and Juventus paid for their strikers, and salary levels.
Now what’s actually interesting is the amount that the Bianconeri are said to request from Chelsea to take the Serbian player to Stamford Bridge.
With Lukaku’s price considered to be €40m, Juventus want the Belgian plus €30m and bonuses for Vlahovic. That’d see him moving to London for around €70m, and that’s actually considered a discount, from the Italian point of view.
Since the Old Lady’s initial thought had been to sell Vlahovic for €90m, the Blues can see this type of deal as a way to sign him for €20m less.
In reality, €90m was fanciful and something Juventus were never going to get, so throwing that figure out there and making €70m look like a good deal could well be a negotiation tactic.
