Chelsea and Southampton have an agreement for the transfer of Romeo Lavia, according to a report from Belgium.
Journalist Sacha Tavolieri claims that the Blues ‘finally’ reached the Saints’ request, and are ready to spend £50m on the transfer.
The move made by Chelsea is an effort to outbid Liverpool, something they already done with Moises Caicedo and Brighton & Hove Albion.
Lavia himself is said to be ready for the move to Stamford Bridge, having said goodbye to some of his teammates at Southampton.
Chelsea are now reportedly waiting for him, with a contract ‘ready’. He’s set to sign a five-year deal, with an option for an extra season.
With nothing done, though, it’s said there’s still a chance Liverpool could try a late move to hijack that deal.
It’s claimed that a last minute offer from the Reds ‘wouldn’t be a nonsense’, so not a waste of time, especially because the player previously told a teammate he’d like to play for Liverpool.
These seem to be very tense hours for both clubs, with Chelsea and Reds in ongoing battles.
