Chelsea asked Inter Milan about Cesare Casadei when they were negotiating a loan deal for Romelu Lukaku to return to the San Siro.
That’s according to Sky Italia, who explain the Blues were left without success. The west London club returned with insistence, starting new contact and with an intention to buy the 19-year-old outright.
Chelsea made an offer of €7-8m, but it was rejected by the Serie A side. The latter tried to offer the midfielder to Torino as part of the deal for Gleison Bremer, but the latter ended up at Juventus.
Thomas Tuchel’s side will face fresh competition to sign the Italy U19 international as OGC Nice have joined the chase. The Ligue 1 side have come forward and presented an offer higher than that of the English club.
Sky doesn’t dwell into the details of Nice’s offer, but with it being superior than the one made by Chelsea, the latter will have to step up their efforts, if they want to take Casadei.
Reports have suggested the Premier League side are ready to submit a new €15m offer to Inter for Casadei.
