Mario Pasalic to Fiorentina is just a ‘matter of hours away’ from completion if the Florence edition of Corriere dello Sport is to be believed.

The Italian newspaper explains there’s only ‘details’ left to sort out, and the ‘die has been cast’ on the deal.

The reason for the delay is Chelsea’s current managerial situation, with the Premier League side trying to find a way to get rid of Antonio Conte for less than the €11m post-tax he is owed, all the while attempting to get Maurizio Sarri out of his Napoli contract.

Pasalic is seen as an ideal fit for Fiorentina, already knowing the league well from a previous loan with Milan, and matching what Stefano Pioli is looking for in midfielders perfectly, bringing technique and versatility to that area of the pitch.

The deal is expected to be a loan with a right to buy the Chelsea midfielder at any point during his spell in Florence, allowing the Serie A side to evaluate him before making a final decision.

We’d be shocked if this one didn’t happen, as it seems to suit everyone involved, and there doesn’t appear to be any competition.
