Bayern Munich are unlikely to pay the €65m clause they agreed with Chelsea for Nicolas Jackson.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say the clause will likely be renegotiated come the summer transfer window.
The newspaper explains that while the focus is currently on Harry Kane, Bayern are still planning for the future in their goalscoring department.
Jackson is currently on loan from Chelsea. That deal includes an option for them to sign him permanently for €65m. However, it only ‘kicks in’ once he’s made 40 starts this season.
Bayern are likely to keep a close eye on this and, perhaps ensure it doesn’t happen. Supervisory board member Uli Hoeneß has already emphasized that it is unrealistic for them to pay such a fee for the striker.
Instead, Bayern plan to ‘renegotiate’ the sum if they are interested in a purchase at the end of the season. They’ve already worked out a contract agreement with Jackson and his agent.
Any move will depends on his performances this season. Either way, Bayern seem unlikely to give him the 40 starts he needs to turn that €65m clause into an obligation. Chelsea can expect that to be skipped and renegotiated at some point.
