Chelsea are eyeing a move for AFC Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen in the summer window.

That’s according to Thursday’s edition of AS, which states the defender is the top target for the Blues.

The 20-year-old joined Bournemouth from Juventus last summer and impressed in his debut season. This has attracted interest from Chelsea, Real Madrid and a few other clubs.

Huijsen has a contract lasting until 2030, and it includes a £50m release clause. The newspaper states Chelsea want to pay his clause in order to take him away from Bournemouth.

Enzo Maresca’s side have qualified for the Club World Cup that will kick-start in June. AS explain the west London club’s idea is to have the centre-back for the tournament in the US.

Online, AS also state Chelsea want the Spain international for the Club World Cup and provide more updates.

The outlet backs claims from the UK about the Blues’ ‘strong interest’ in the Bournemouth star.

Last month, several claims from Spain stated Real Madrid want to beat competition to sign Huijsen. AS now claim Los Blancos like him but have doubts whether to invest £50m on a young defender, especially after Raúl Asencio’s emergence this season.

Chelsea have no problem activating Huijsen’s clause and Real Madrid’s doubts allow them to wrap up the signing quickly.
