Le Havre failed to sign Chelsea’s Malang Sarr on deadline day out to the London club, according to L’Equipe journalist Loïc Tanzi.

The defender hasn’t made an appearance for the Blues this season as Mauricio Pochettino hasn’t included him in his plans. The winter market provided an opportunity for him to escape from Stamford Bridge.

On Thursday, we relayed news from France that Le Harve made a late attempt to sign the Chelsea player.

Tanzi says the deal collapsed after the 25-year-old failed to reach an agreement with the west London club to terminate his deal, which lasts until 2025.

Foot Mercato journalist Josué Cassé has also echoed Tanzi’s claim and adds that Chelsea ‘blocked’ the Frenchman’s exit, after they failed to find an agreement to end his contract.

On their website, Foot Mercato further state the Premier League side ‘decided to derail’ the player’s exit, after they couldn’t find an agreement on the ‘financial conditions’ to cut short his deal.

Sarr will finish the season at Chelsea, unless he moves to a league where the winter market is still open.
