Chelsea continue to have Joško Gvardiol on their agenda even after they failed to sign the RB Leipzig star in the summer.
The Bundesliga side’s chief, Oliver Mintzlaff, reportedly turned down a €90m bid made by the west London club in the last window and also secured the defender to a new deal until 2027.
Bild point this out in their latest report and add that Chelsea have not given up on the 20-year-old.
A potential deal is unlikely to take shape in the winter market, while the defender’s suitors are already preparing for next summer. Despite seeing their bid rejected in 2022, the Blues ‘remain persistent’ and have ‘dared’ to launch a new attack to sign the centre-back.
Chelsea technical director Christopher Vivell spent over two years at Leipzig before joining the Premier League side in December. He could now be leading the Blues’ pursuit of the Croatia international.
Graham Potter’s side or any other club would have to spend big as Bild explain a fee of €100m must be on the table to acquire the player’s signature.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have completed the signing of Benoît Badiashile from AS Monaco on Thursday and he is a left footed centre-back, just like Gvardiol.
