Earlier this year, Chelsea were credited with an interest in River Plate’s Ian Subiabre and there was even a report of his agent travelling to London to hold talks with the Blues over a potential move in the summer window.

The 18-year-old is still with the Argentine club and Chelsea continue to follow him.

That’s according to River Noticias, who report River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo wants to retain the Chelsea target.

The winger has a contract until December 2026, and the South American club want to secure his long-term future in order to please their manager.

It’s claimed River Plate’s board have been trying to renew his contract by offering him an improved salary and increasing the release clause, without mentioning the details of his current clause.

The Argentina U20 international’s representatives haven’t agreed terms with his employer yet, and this has alerted several clubs. This includes Chelsea, Barcelona and Inter Milan, and these clubs have been ‘constantly monitoring’ the youngster.

Due to River Plate’s failure to tie him down to a new contract, the outlet say his interested parties are getting closer to his entourage to start negotiations.
