Chelsea seem to have been left alone in the race for FC Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa.

As widely reported by the European media in the past few days, Manchester United engaged in a strong pursuit of Inter Milan’s André Onana, with their bid expected to arrive at any time now.

That’s why Portuguese newspaper O Jogo today highlights Chelsea’s chase for Costa, claiming the Blues ‘continue to be a possibility’ for the 23-year-old.

It’s said that following a ‘clearance’ the Stamford Bridge side made in their squad in the past few weeks, they’re now ‘ready to invest’ in new reinforcements.

O Jogo claims it’s still to be known whether Chelsea will manage to reach the €75m demanded by Porto for Costa. It’s highlighted that to take him out this summer, this price would need to be paid, regardless of the ‘financial engineering’ from the interested club. That basically means that performance bonuses could be used in the maths.

As usual, the Portuguese outlet points out the Blues spent more when signing Kepa Arrizabalaga, using it as a sign that such a big investment in the Dragons’ star wouldn’t be such a shock for the London side.
