Chelsea are considering a move for Palmeiras’ Vanderlan in the summer, according to UOL.
The left-back joined the Brazilian club’s academy in 2017 and after spending three years with their youth teams, he was provided an opportunity in the first team in 2020. He’s made 72 appearances so far, scoring a goal and registering nine assists in the process.
Vanderlan’s profile and development at Palmeiras have seen Chelsea take notice.
In fact, the report states the Blues have been following the 21-year-old’s ‘for months’, and he seems to have convinced them to take the necessary steps to try and sign him.
It’s claimed Mauricio Pochettino’s side are ‘considering opening negotiations’ with the South American club for the defender’s transfer in the next window.
Palmeiras aren’t confirming any ongoing talks, and also don’t intend to sell him. At the same time, UOL have found out that the player has a €15m asking price.
If Chelsea are successful in securing Vanderlan’s services, he won’t be included in their squad next season. Instead, they plan to send him out on loan at Strasbourg.
