Chelsea and Napoli are ‘closer’ to an agreement for Kepa Arrizabalaga following more talks about a loan deal for the goalkeeper.

That’s according to Gianluca di Marzio, who says the two clubs have reached the ‘basis of an understanding’ for the Spaniard.

According to his information, Napoli are keen to add another goalkeeper to their squad after David Ospina departed on a free transfer.

They are ‘targeting’ Arrizabalaga and the two clubs are ‘working on’ a deal that suits all parties.

Contacts are ‘alive’ on that front and Chelsea and Napoli have now reached the ‘basis of an understanding’ for the goalkeeper’s salary.

That deal has seen Chelsea agree to pay three-quarters of Kepa’s wages, with Napoli obviously paying the rest.

While that hurdle has been cleared, they still need to find an agreement regarding bonuses. Chelsea would like two worth €1.5m each but Napoli don’t want to pay that.

Instead, agents on their side are ‘working to lower’ that demand and there is a growing optimism they will be able to do so.

It seems negotiations between the two clubs are going well, though, and this move is one we could see happening sooner rather than later.
