Chelsea are close to winning the race for Brazilian wonderkid Andrey Santos, according to claims today.
It’s French outlet Le10Sport who writes that Paris Saint Germain ‘seem to be left behind’ in the race for the youngster, as the Ligue 1 side were ‘overtaken’ by the Blues.
Even though there’s nothing ‘signed’ yet, Andrey is actually ‘close to committing’ to Chelsea, as the Stamford Bridge side had their project considered the ‘most consistent’.
The Blues are expected to spend €15m on the signing, with the player ‘heading straight’ to London in the January transfer window, if no last-minute barriers show up.
Le10Sport highlights that besides Paris Saint Germain, Chelsea have also beaten the likes of Barcelona and Newcastle United in the race for the player.
The Catalan and the English media have indeed been talking about Barça and Newcastle being in the chase for the 18-year-old, and that’s why Chelsea’s agreement for the signing comes out as quite surprising at this stage.
Andrey Santos had been shining for Vasco in Brazil’s second division this year, and will certainly have to work hard on his adaptation before featuring for the Blues in the Premier League.
