Chelsea are keen on signing Palmeiras wonderkid Estêvão Willian and this has been discussed in the Brazilian media for the past few days.
At the weekend, UOL reported the Blues are talking to Palmeiras daily in order to wrap up the deal quickly for the 17-year-old.
It was also stated Chelsea want to offer €30m fixed fee and bonuses to make the deal worth €55-60m, while the selling club are requesting a higher basic sum.
Journalist Jorge Nicola, relayed by Torcedores, explains that after selling Endrick to Real Madrid, the Brazilian club’s board ‘must be about to close another major negotiation’ with Chelsea for Estêvão.
Nicola, through his YouTube channel, says a few Premier League sides have been trying to sign the 17-year-old, but the west London club have been gaining more ground in this operation.
“Chelsea are prepared for offers above €60m… Neither Chelsea nor their two English rivals want to pay that fixed €60m for the deal to go through. The idea is to pay a lump sum and the rest in bonuses,” he said.
“And to try and convince Palmeiras to do the deal, Chelsea have already offered €40m in a lump sum and €25m in bonuses.”
Nicola’s latest report indicates Chelsea are offering a higher fixed fee [earlier claims said it was €30m] in order to secure a deal for Estêvão, who is also known as Messinho.
If they were to reach an agreement with Palmeiras, the overall cost of the operation could go up to €65m, and Estêvão won’t be able to arrive in the UK until he turns 18 years of age next April.
