Chelsea are close to an agreement with KRC Genk for goalkeeper Mike Penders, with a €20m package now on the table.
That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who reports that Chelsea have made an offer of a €20m package with a percentage on a future resale.
The two sides are working on a deal for the 18-year-old goalkeeper, although there is an ‘agreement in principle’ in place with those in charge at BlueCo.
Part of that agreement would not immediately move to Chelsea, or go to Strasbourg either, but would be loaned directly back to Genk for this season instead.
The goalkeeper has a long-term contract on the table and is presumably now waiting for Chelsea and Genk to finalise the agreement before signing it.
He would become the latest youngster to sign for the Blues this summer, with them continuing their concerted efforts to hoover up talent from across the world so that they can develop them for the future.
It appears to be a part of a long-term strategy and Penders is the latest in the line, with a €20m package now on the table and being worked on.
