Croatian goalkeeper Matej Delac signed for Chelsea in 2010, but is yet to make a single appearance for the Premier League side.

The 24-year-old has been sent on loan to several clubs, and is currently at Belgian side Mouscron-Péruwelz.

Delac has been speaking to the Belgian website DHnet and was asked about his transfer to the Premier League side in 2010.

He insists Chelsea noticed him when he was playing for the youth sides of Croatia, and that he couldn’t refuse the London club.

He said: “This is where Chelsea came to get me. They saw a lot of my benefits and therefore wanted to transfer me. I could not refuse. Chelsea, you can’t refuse.”

Delac was quickly sent on loan to Vitesse after he arrived at Chelsea, but the player reckons he is gathering experience during his loan spells.

He added: “I only stayed two weeks in London. I quickly was loaned to Vitesse Arnhem.

“I take a good experience from all these trips. Obviously, I would like to stay longer at some clubs, like here in Mouscron, but it is Chelsea who decides for me. I only stayed two weeks in London. I was quickly loaned to Vitesse Arnhem.”

Delac has a couple of years left on his contract at Chelsea, and it’d be interesting to see if he’d be offered a renewal.
