Chelsea target Manu Koné could be available for €30m this summer, with that figure seen as a good price for Borussia Mönchengladbach.
That’s according to Rheinische Post, who say the player appears to be gearing up to depart the German side in the coming months.
The newspaper explains that Koné may soon be the subject of a bidding war between several top European clubs after impressing in the Bundesliga and earning himself plenty of admirers.
Chelsea are among them, with a report on the second of this month stating that the midfielder is a big fan of the Blues as Didier Drogba is one of his idols.
That was followed by a report on the 15th which stated that Chelsea have made contact over a possible deal, although they could face a potential tussle with PSG for his signature.
That interest from Chelsea remains and RP make it clear that Koné is the ‘focus of attention’ ahead of the summer.
At the moment Koné is focused on his football and ignoring the rumours but the newspaper states that the ‘sheer number of words’ he has said on the subject within a short space of time ‘gives an idea’ of how hot things are behind the scenes.
According to their information, those in charge at Borussia Mönchengladbach are ‘prepared to sell him’ in the summer as it’s the only way for them to raise funds to do their own transfer business.
At the moment it can’t be ruled out that someone would offer €50m but the reality is that if any club were to offer a transfer fee of more than €30m it would be more than welcomed.
That figure would represent a ‘good deal’ for the German side and become their second most expensive transfer after Granit Xhaka’s move to Arsenal.
Whether Chelsea are willing to spend it, particularly after their massive outlays in the last two windows, remains to be seen but they are said to be keen and there is a deal there to be done.
