It’s now been two days since Diogo Costa was Portugal’s absolute hero in their qualification for the Euro 2024 quarter-finals, and the Portuguese media is still full of stories about his performances against Slovenia.

Many outlets now wonder whether some foreign clubs will try to sign the goalkeeper from Porto this summer. And as Jornal de Notícias writes about that, Chelsea are named as a potential destination.

The outlet interviewed Artur Fernandes, president of the National Agents’ Association, who said: “When the tournament started, Diogo Costa was worth €50m. Now he’s worth €75m, the value of his release clause.”

Jornal de Notícias then points out that Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are among the clubs who are ‘very attentive’ to Costa.

The Porto goalkeeper had indeed been linked to several European giants in the past few years, although it seems no one got close to signing him from Porto, especially because of his price.

Last season, Chelsea had Djordje Petrovic and Robert Sánchez fighting for a place, and it’s not clear whether the Blues would go after a new goalkeeper this summer. Now since Costa is still 24, perhaps he’s a player being monitored for the future.
