The Italian media continues to be full of stories about Romelu Lukaku’s return to Inter Milan, as the Nerazzurri reached a deal with Chelsea to bring the player back to Serie A.

And it turns out that while negotiating the striker’s departure, the Blues apparently tried to include another player in the deal.

According to Sky Italia (via FC Inter 1908), one of the ‘last details’ in the conversations was an attempt from Chelsea to sign Cesare Casadei.

It’s said the Blues tried to ‘snatch an option’ to sign the 19-year-old, but Inter Milan responded with a ‘dry no’, and the deal for Lukaku was only made in cash.

Casadei stood out playing for Inter Milan’s youth ranks last season, getting 16 goals and five assists, despite being a central midfielder.

The Nerazzurri are now concerned about his future, as according to Tutto Mercato Web, a meeting with his agent Michelangelo Minieri was held at the club’s headquarters this week.
