Chelsea asked Juventus for €33m plus bonuses for defender Renato Veiga in the January transfer window.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who report on the negotiations today and the chance that they may want even more.
They explain that Veiga has been impressing at Juventus since arriving on loan from Chelsea in the January transfer window.
He joined the Italian side on an ‘expensive’ loan deal valued at almost €5m in total. Many fans and some at the club already want that turned into a permanent deal in the summer but talks with Chelsea or Veiga’s entourage haven’t been held on that front yet.
That may change in the coming weeks, but Juventus know that Chelsea won’t be easy to negotiate with.
That’s because their valuation of Veiga is ‘quite high’. In fact, in January, they asked for. In fact, in January, they asked for €33m plus bonuses if a purchase clause was to be included in his loan deal.
They may want even more than that in the summer given he’s impressed with Juventus so far and they are obviously keen on him.
There’s also the fact that Chelsea may want him back, with a report earlier today stating that Enzo Maresca is a big fan of the player. He reportedly wants him back at Stamford Bridge next season.
That also suggested Chelsea would not be interested in a permanent sale, perhaps explaining why they asked for such a big fee in the summer.
Of course, if they were to be offered such a fee and the chance to make a big profit on Veiga, we’re sure calculations would be made. Whether Juventus are willing to offer it, remains to be seen.
