The links between Porto winger Pepê and Premier League clubs suddenly showed up with big strength this month.
Today, it’s newspaper Record who features a story about the 25-year-old, claiming he’s wanted by both Arsenal and Chelsea.
Besides praising the player’s evolution on the pitch, they highlight the fact that his market value has only been going up, having now reached its peak, at €22m.
Record then claims that Arsenal and Chelsea and Arsenal are ‘attentively following’ Pepê’s evolution at Porto. They know, however, that it won’t be easy to convince the Dragons of letting him go.
It’s pointed out that Pepê recently signed a new deal with the Portuguese side, this time raising the release clause to €75m in a contract until 2027.
Arsenal and Chelsea are said to be aware that Porto will demand that much for the move, so tough negotiations would be needed to get a discount in this transfer.
Pepê only has two goals and five assists for the Dragons this season, but Record makes it very explicit that instead of playing for himself, he’s been changing his game and working more for the team’s evolution. A proof of it is that he was many times used as a fullback this season.
