On Thursday, Chelsea confirmed they’ve parted ways with Enzo Maresca.
Later that day, claims from the UK mentioned RC Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior as a target to replace Maresca. The Ligue 1 side are owned by BlueCo, who also own the west London club.
L’Equipe cover the possibility of Rosenior immediately moving to Chelsea.
Chelsea part-owner Behdad Eghbali asked Maresca to offer more playing time to youngsters with a view to future sales.
The Blues board want to bring in a manager who’ll offer more opportunities to their young signings. Eghbali wants a coach who’ll be ‘more in line’ with the model employed by the owners.
According to the report, the 41-year-old Englishman is ‘almost an ideal fit’ as he’s already shown this at Strasbourg. It’s to be noted the situation and dynamics would be completely different at Chelsea.
L’Equipe report Chelsea refused to reveal their intentions on Thursday, after parting ways with Maresca.
However, a source close to the Blues informed the newspaper that: ‘…if they’ve dismissed Maresca, it’s because they’ve already reached an agreement with a coach.’
With Rosenior being the favourite, they add talks with him are progressing well with him. The former Hull City boss could move to Chelsea along with his staff except goalkeeping coach Sébastien Gimenez.
L’Equipe add BlueCo aren’t bothered that Rosenior’s move to Chelsea would disrupt the French club’s season. In fact, a source close to Eghbali told the newspaper that ‘they don’t care at all’.
In short, Chelsea shouldn’t face complications to appoint Rosenior, provided they want to bring him to London.
