It was made clear to Philippe Coutinho he would not be included in Barcelona’s plans this season and he was subsequently asked to find a new club.

Chelsea were reportedly believed to be one of the clubs interested in the Brazil international. However, the Blues couldn’t complete the deal because of FIFA’s transfer ban, which stopped them from registering new players. That ban has now been lifted.

The 27-year-old is currently on a season-long loan deal at Bayern Munich and the Bundesliga winners have an option to make his transfer permanent after this campaign.

According to Mundo Deportivo, if the Bavarians decide against signing the former Liverpool star, he would then open to the door to return to the Premier League.

Chelsea once again get a mention and the newspaper adds the west London club ‘could already consider’ signing Coutinho in the next summer window.

At the Camp Nou, they are of the belief the player’s asking price will not be less than €100m, if he finishes the season well with Bayern.

So, if Mundo’s report is to be believed, any approach from Chelsea for Coutinho would see them spend in excess of €100m.
