Today we’ve covered repeat claims from Turkey that Ferdi Kadıoğlu has now been given the green light to fly to England after Fenerbahce and Brighton & Hove Albion finally reached a full agreement on the transfer.
The situation has been ongoing for weeks, with the Super Lig club looking to get as much money as possible from the deal. At one point Manchester United were pulled into the equation, after Luke Shaw’s latest injury was announced, but that may well have been just to pressure the Seagulls.
Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reported earlier that the agreement between Brighton and Fenerbahce was for €32.5m, which makes it a new Super Lig record, which seems to be what the Istanbul club were aiming for.
He then reported that Kadıoğlu would be flying to England over the weekend to undergo the formalities, take his medical, and become a new Brighton player.
Well, it would appear the left-back couldn’t wait.
Sabuncuoğlu now reports Ferdi is actually flying out from Istanbul Ataturk Airport General Aviation Terminal at 20:30.
Istanbul is two hours ahead and therefore as we’re writing this Ferdi is probably getting comfy and adhering to the sign to put his seatbelt on.
