Ipswich Town have been working on signing Royale Union Saint-Gilloise’s Kjell Scherpen this summer. The latest claims have covered Leeds United‘s interest in the goalkeeper.

Last week, Sport Witness covered claims from Italy that Leeds United’s Lucas Perri has an agreement with Torino. The Whites want to sign a replacement before sanctioning the stopper’s exit.

Scherpen has reportedly ended up on Leeds United’s radar, and they have to beat Ipswich Town to secure his services.

No Leeds United concern for Ipswich Town

Voetbal International journalist Joost Blaauwhof took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to cover the latest on Leeds United and Ipswich Town.

He claims there is hardly any reason to expect Daniel Farke’s side hijacking the Tractor Boys’ pursuit of the Dutchman.

That’s because Kjell Scherpen hasn’t personally heard about Leeds United’s interest so far, and wants to join Gary O’Neil’s side. Blaauwhof adds the Belgian club will have the final say on his next move.

This shows that for now, the newly promoted Premier League side have nothing to worry about regarding Leeds United.

Ipswich Town making advances

Ipswich Town want Kjell Scherpen to be their No.1 next season. That’s according to Het Laatste Nieuws, who claims the English club have already made an offer to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.

There’s no mention of the fee and sources close to both clubs have informed the newspaper that negotiations are ongoing. There’s optimism the parties will soon reach an agreement.

Leeds United haven’t made any advances and if that’s still the case, Ipswich Town will have no problem reaching total agreement with the Belgian club.

The Jupiler Pro League side signed the 26-year-old from Brighton & Hove Albion in July 2025. He kept 21 clean sheets and conceded 38 goals from 43 matches in his first season.

Scherpen’s return to the Premier League will also benefit the Seagulls, who have a sell-on clause.
