Konstantinos Mavropanos signed for Arsenal in 2018, and has since been sent out on two loans.

The defender was originally sent to FC Nürnberg in January 2020, before moving to VfB Stuttgart the following summer. In June of this year, the Bundesliga club extended the player’s loan for the current season, and there’s also an option to buy.

Bild explain the situation today, and say the player has become a ‘crowd favourite’.

Sven Mislintat, now at Stuttgart, scouted the player for Arsenal and is excited by the attacking contribution from the defender: “I like his offensive drive. In training you can always see outstanding offensive actions with him.”

VfB have already decided that they absolutely want to keep him beyond the end of the current season. Bild say ‘the chances are good’ for that to happen, and there’s a purchase obligation should the German side avoid relegation.

Even in the event of relegation, the 23-year-old can be purchased for the ‘bargain sum’ of €3m.

As far as Bild have it, the only threat to a permanent transfer is potential injury issues, with Mavropanos not having the best fitness record.
