Lutsharel Geertruida’s chances of arriving at Liverpool is “greater than 50%” this summer as Arne Slot heads to Anfield from Feyenoord.
That’s according to Marcel van der Kraan, who believes Geertruida could be among Liverpool’s targets this summer.
Slot is on the verge of being named as the new Liverpool manager after they struck an agreement with Feyenoord at the end of last week.
His arrival is looking likely to herald major changes at Liverpool this summer, with the growing belief that Michael Edwards’ return will mean an overhaul of the squad post Klopp.
Solving the Reds’ defensive issues will be among the priorities, with that area of the team having been a problem one throughout this campaign.
That’s seen Liverpool quickly linked with a move for Geertruida, who has been one of the stars at Feyenoord under Slot in recent years.
That rumour was given fuel over the weekend when Geertruida was spotted in the stands of the London Stadium to watch Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with West Ham.
And Van der Kraan believes there is every chance the player makes the move to Anfield at some point, putting the chances of it happening at 50% for now.
“I think the chance that Geertruida will go there is greater than 50%,” he said.
“He is on the radar and has done fantastic in the Dutch national team and in the Champions League, he is a boy who physically fits the Premier League best of all Feyenoord players.
“I have no doubts about Geertruida, I have seen him play so much. At least €30m. Feyenoord could have sold him last year for €25m, but the club did not do that. He now has another year of contract; I think there is a significant amount of money to be put on the table.”
