Naby Keïta is in his final year of contract at Liverpool and his future at Anfield beyond this season remains uncertain.

Earlier reports stated Borussia Dortmund are looking at the 27-year-old to replace Jude Bellingham.

The England international is drawing interest from top clubs across Europe, including Liverpool. On October 1st, AS reported the Reds have taken decisive steps to sign the 19-year-old.

Sky Deutschland take a look at the claims regarding Keita replacing Bellingham at the Bundelsiga side and also provide an update on the BVB star.

With regards to the former Birmingham City man, Sky transfer expert Florian Plettenberg states his suitors from the Premier League must invest big to take him away from BVB.

“All the big English clubs are interested in him, but he doesn’t have a release clause. Dortmund is therefore in pole position. But if he changes, it will certainly be for at least €100m,” Plettenberg said.

Bellingham’s deal runs down in 2025 and this puts the German club in a strong position to hold on to their player beyond next summer. Therefore, the possibility of the Liverpool player joining BVB is currently ‘not an issue’.

Keïta has struggled with form and fitness this season and is yet to make an appearance in the league.
