AS Roma seem to continue with their mission to keep Leeds United defender Diego Llorente at the club.
According to Corriere Dello Sport (via Roma Giallorossa) today, the Serie A side are taking ‘steps forward’ by building ‘pressure’ to get the 29-year-old.
Following the loan spell Llorente had at Roma this season, they had the option to buy him from Leeds for €18m, but their idea is to get a big discount for the pursuit.
It’s actually claimed the Giallorossi ‘never considered’ spending that much on the signing, so only a ‘construtive dialog’ with the Whites could make this transfer possible.
The report says Roma’s idea is to sign him on another loan with another right of redemption. This time, ‘certainly under €10m’. Then this option could be automatically triggered depending on performance bonuses.
That doesn’t sound like an impossible mission, because it’s said the clubs are ‘moving towards an agreement’. The main factor for that to happen is that Llorente is said to be out of Leeds’ plans for next season in the Championship.
The defender has a contract with the Whites until 2026.
