A week ago, multiple claims from the Italian media explained Chelsea face competition from Tottenham Hotspur to sign Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries.
The Netherlands international has impressed for his country at the World Cup, managing a goal and two assists, which came in Oranje’s 3-1 win over the USA in the round of 16 tie.
This has also resulted in the 26-year-old’s valuation rise, which has caused concerns to his agent, Rafaela Pimenta, to transfer him.
Simone Inzaghi’s side need to raise €60m between January and June and the right wing-back is viewed as an ideal candidate to help them raise funds. That’s what Corriere dello Sport are reporting on Wednesday, who name both Chelsea and Spurs as his suitors.
The newspaper states ‘it is certain’ the Dutchman ‘will leave’ the Serie A side and this will likely take place next summer rather than the winter market.
The ideal scenario for Inter is to agree a deal for his sale in January and get him back on loan until the end of this season.
What’s certain is that Dumfries will move to a big club. Chelsea already wanted him in the summer, and they are still in the picture to take him away from the San Siro.
In fact, Corriere state the Blues are the ‘big favourites to sign’ the player, meaning that amid interest from elsewhere, Chelsea are said to be in the driving seat to sign Dumfries.
