Celtic suffered their first defeat to Dundee United since 1988 with a 2-0 loss at the weekend.

Brendan Rodgers’ side will look to bounce back when they face Sturm Graz in the Europe League at Celtic Park on Thursday.

Kleine Zeitung report Sturm Graz goalkeeper Oliver Christensen hopes to be fit to face Celtic.

The Denmark international made his eighth league appearance of the season against FC Blau-Weiss Linz on Sunday. An injury forced him off the pitch in the 57th minute and was replaced by Matteo Bignetti.

After yesterday’s 4-3 win, Sturm Graz manager Jürgen Säumel confirmed the nature of the 26-year-old’s setback.

“It’s a muscular problem. That’s why it wasn’t possible for him to continue playing,” he said.

Christensen joined the Austrian club on loan from Fiorentina. The manger is hopeful the stopper will be fit on time to face Celtic.

“I hope, of course, that he’ll be fit again by Thursday, because Oli is a really good goalkeeper who helped us with his saves in a few situations today,” Säumel explained.

Christensen kept five clean sheets and conceded 14 goals from 13 matches. It could be a blow for the Austrian club if he’s not available against Celtic. If he were to miss, Bignetti is likely to start in Glasgow.

Säumel has praised Bignetti’s performance against Blau-Weiss Linz.

“He did a really good job again. He came into a game that was on a knife edge, displayed calm and composure, and played very well,” he added.

Celtic are 28th in the Europa League table, two points behind 22nd placed Sturm Graz.
