Celtic made it to the Champions League play-off despite losing their last group stage fixture in January. Brendan Rodgers’ side face Bayern Munich in the two-legged tie and the first leg will take place at Celtic Park on Wednesday.
On Saturday, the German club secured a comfortable victory against Werder Bremen in the league and Celtic clinched a 5-0 win over Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup.
The Bundesliga side have started preparing for the clash against Celtic. That’s according to Bild, who state there was a ‘secret’ training session on Sunday and Vincent Kompany was without six players.
João Palhinha and Serge Gnabry were down with flu and cold respectively and therefore missed yesterday’s training. Daniel Peretz and Alphonso Davies, along with Manuel Neuer and Kim Min-jae were also not present.
Bild state there’s no ‘danger’ of the Bayern Munich goalkeeper and the 28-year-old centre-back not travelling to Scotland to face Celtic.
This indicates the 38-year-old German stopper and the South Korea international should be in contention for the midweek European fixture. There are question marks over Hiroki Ito’s availability to face Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Ito has been sidelined for a long time and returned to training last Tuesday and the report states the 25-year-old may need a few more training sessions to get back on the pitch.
The return leg between Celtic and Bayern Munich will be at the Allianz Arena on February 18th.
