Celtic have lost their opening two games in the Champions League this season and Brendan Rodgers will be hoping to end that run when his side host Atlético Madrid at Celtic Park on Wednesday.
Diego Simeone could be able to rely upon Stefan Savić for tomorrow’s clash against Celtic, according to Marca.
At the weekend, the centre-back missed the La Liga side’s 3-0 win over Celta Vigo and this raised concerns over his involvement against Celtic.
The Montenegro international was unwell when he returned from the international break and that forced him to miss the league tie against Celta.
It’s claimed the 32-year-old is expected to return to training today and also travel with the squad to Glasgow. Savić’s centre-back partner, José María Giménez, will not feature against Celtic after picking up a muscle injury.
Marca’s claim about Savić is also backed up by AS, who state the former Manchester City man is expected to be part of the training session that’s scheduled to take place at 10:30pm local time.
The report says Savić is the only player to return from absence as Giménez, Memphis Depay, Reinildo Mandava and Thomas Lemar will miss tomorrow’s clash against Celtic. In addition to this, Samuel Lino is added to the injury list after he suffered a ‘moderate knee sprain’ in the last league tie.
