The Belgian media have reported Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata is set for a layoff after picking up an injury earlier this week.
This will come as blow to Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers ahead of the new season, and his preparations for the upcoming Champions League qualifiers.
DH.be have reported Boyata will be sidelined for six weeks after damaging his knee ligaments during the preseason friendly against Slavia Prague on Tuesday night. The Belgian defender had a scan yesterday on the injury, when it was confirmed he will be miss the start of the season with Celtic.
Boyata has been ruled out of both legs of Celtic’s Champions League qualifiers against Linfield. The Scottish Premiership Champions are set to meet the Irish side next week, followed by the second leg at Celtic Park on the 19th July.
Boyata will also miss Celtic’s opening league game against Hearts next month as Rodgers’ side start their defence of the title.
