Even though part of the Scottish media claim Celtic have already triggered the buying option for the permanent signing of Jota from Benfica, we now see the Portuguese take on this story.

Newspaper Record today features a piece taking things calmly. They say there’s the intention from Celtic to use the €7.5m option, but that’s still to happen since the personal agreement with the player is pending.

The deal isn’t expected to be a problem, though. Jota is said to be willing to stay in Glasgow, as besides playing regularly for Ange Postecoglou, he ‘feels like an idol for Celtic fans’.

That said, Record claim the transfer could be completed this week, becoming Benfica’s first sale of the summer.

Jota joined Celtic on a loan deal at the start of the season, and his positive year in Glasgow included 13 goals and 14 assists in 40 appearances for the Hoops.

According to Record, Benfica will still have 30% of a future sale, as that was agreed at the time of his move to Scotland.
