Celtic are keen on ES Setif ‘sensation’ Ahmed Kendouci but face competition from Rangers F.C. for his signature.
That’s according to DZ Foot, who say the teams managed by Ange Postecoglou and Giovanni van Bronckhorst are both ‘strongly interested’ in the 22-year-old.
The website explains that Kendouci had been expected to follow the path laid out by several Algerian players in recent years by moving to Europe in the summer.
That never happened, and he remained where he was, which has worked out well as he has been able to be the ‘author of very interesting performances’ this season.
That’s not gone unnoticed, particularly in Scotland, where both Celtic and rivals Rangers are both ‘strongly interested’ in the player.
No offer has come from Celtic Park or Ibrox as yet, but ES Setif ‘wouldn’t be very greedy’ regarding the player, should either club make their move.
That gives Rangers and Celtic an incentive to make a move for the central midfielder if they are as interested as DZ’s claim they are.
Neither side are in particular need of a new central midfielder, with both boasting numerous options in the position at this moment in time.
Managers are a greedy bunch, though, and perhaps both Ange Postecoglou and Giovanni van Bronckhorst feel another addition wouldn’t go amiss this month.
