Celtic fullback Alexandro Bernabei is on his way to Brazil, according to reports from South America.
Journalists Cesar Luis Merlo and German Garcia Grova both report that the 23-year-old is about to sign for Internacional.
There are not many details on this transfer so far, because it’s taken everyone by surprise. Merlo was the first to write about it, claiming ‘sources from Scotland’ told him this is a done deal. A minute later, Grova came up saying Celtic are loaning Bernabei to Inter, so we’ll see about that.
The youngster had been getting very little playing time in Scotland this season. He had 429 minutes in nine appearances, as despite a short sequence of starts this year, he ended up being ignored in the last few matches.
Celtic spent €4.35m to sign Bernabei from Lanus back in 2022. He’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at just €2m, and has a contract with the Hoops until 2027.
Brendan Rodgers obviously didn’t have a place for him in the starting eleven and so it looks like there’s new horizons after Celtic.
