Most of the Portuguese sports newspapers today have the quotes from Brendan Rodgers saying he would like Olivier Ntcham to stay at Celtic.

Some outlets, like O Jogo, take it as a bad sign. Porto are already struggling to match the Scottish side’s demands for the midfielder, and the manager’s wish to keep him would only make things more difficult.

But A Bola brings an interesting story which gives the Dragons a little more confidence. After covering Rodgers’ wish to renew Ntcham’s contract, they claim the player is not really keen on signing an extension.

The newspaper claims that the renewal ‘is not something that interests’ his agents before the transfer window closes, and even after that, Ntcham will ‘hardly accept’ a new deal.

A Bola claims the player is still quite excited about the possibility of moving to another league, especially because at Porto he would have the chance to play the Champions League.

It’s claimed that the Dragons’ intention is to close a deal before Celtic’s match against Suduva, which will be played next Thursday.
