Celtic’s Benjamin Nygren is once again finding himself at the centre of transfer talk, even as the player tries to keep that noise at arm’s length during a turbulent season at Celtic Park.
The 24-year-old has been one of the few consistent positives for Celtic this campaign. Despite instability on the touchline and mixed results, Nygren’s form has stood out.
He has scored 19 goals and provided seven assists in 48 appearances across all competitions, and currently sits second in the Scottish Premiership scoring charts with 15 goals.
That level of performance has already put him on the radar of clubs in England. Previous reports, including claims involving Manchester United, have linked him with a Premier League move. Earlier this month, he also spoke openly about having a “dream” of playing in the biggest leagues.

Benjamin Nygren has not hidden the contrast between his personal form and the club’s struggles. Speaking to Swedish outlet Sportbladet, he admitted the campaign has been “mixed”, pointing directly to a damaging defeat against Dundee United that left Celtic trailing Hearts at the top of the table.
“It’s been a bit mixed. We unfortunately lost a very important match,” he said.
While results have fluctuated, Nygren’s individual performances have remained strong. He pointed to that himself, noting he arrives on international duty with “a lot of confidence” after a productive run in front of goal.
Celtic’s season has also been shaped by instability off the pitch. Brendan Rodgers’ departure earlier in the campaign triggered a chain reaction. Martin O’Neill stepped in, then gave way to Wilfried Nancy, whose brief spell ended after eight matches. O’Neill was then forced to return again.
Nygren described the situation clearly: “A lot has happened. We’ve had several managerial changes and there are very high demands at a big club like Celtic. We haven’t really lived up to those demands.”
That context matters when assessing his output. Maintaining consistent numbers in that environment has only increased his profile.

Benjamin Nygren did not shy away from the transfer attention. However, he also made it clear he is not letting it distract him.
“It’s of course fun. It proves that you’ve done something good,” he said.
At the same time, he stressed a desire to remain grounded. He continues to focus on improving daily and helping Celtic finish the season strongly.
“It’s not something I focus on now. The season is ongoing. The focus is on the club, and now on the national team. Then it’s about finishing the season as well as possible, trying to win the league and the cup.”
There is a clear balance in the Celtic star’s words. Nygren acknowledges the interest and allows himself a degree of excitement. Still, he is careful not to lean into speculation too heavily.
What happens next for Celtic
Benjamin Nygren’s situation leaves Celtic with a familiar dilemma. The club have a player in peak form, under contract until 2030, and with a market value now around €10m (£8.6m). That figure has already risen quickly over recent months.
If his current scoring rate continues, further interest from England feels inevitable. His versatility across attacking midfield and forward roles only strengthens that appeal.
At the same time, Celtic are not under immediate pressure to sell. His long contract gives them control, and the club will want stability after a chaotic season.
For now, Nygren is walking a careful line. He is enjoying the recognition that comes with his performances. Yet he is also making sure it does not become the story of his season.
That balance may not hold for long if Premier League interest becomes concrete.
