On Thursday, we covered multiple claims from France that Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi is set to join Stade Rennais in the winter market. It was also said the French club have a deal in place with Brendan Rodgers’ side for a fee of around €10m.
Later that day, Stade Rennais manager Jorge Sampaoli confirmed the forward will leave Celtic for the French club.
The 30-year-old has taken further steps to complete a move to the Ligue 1 side and Foot Mercato journalist Sébastien Denis shares the latest.
He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state that the Celtic player arrived in France yesterday.
The journalist claims the Japan international was scheduled to undergo medical tests with Stade Rennais on Thursday evening. He adds the attacker will sign the contract with his new club today.
In other words, Furuhashi’s transfer from Celtic to Stade Rennais will be made official in the next few hours.
The Japanese star has scored 12 goals and registered four assists from 32 games for Brendan Rodgers’ side this season. He arrived at Celtic Park from Vissel Kobe in 2021, and will be sent away with the very best wishes.
