Celtic are calling off Gustaf Lagerbielke’s transfer to Lecce, according to claims from Italy.
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that while the clubs had been exchanging documents, the Hoops decided to stall the move.
The reason for that is an injury suffered by Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, who should be sidelined for a couple of weeks.
It’s claimed that Brendan Rodgers’ side are no longer convinced that they should let Lagerbielke leave for the rest of the season.
There’s nothing decided yet, though. Di Marzio makes it clear that Celtic paused the operation while they analyse the situation, and the transfer is at a ‘standstill’.
Lagerbielke, however, is said to be keen on the transfer, and is reportedly pushing for the Scottish side to let him complete the move.
Celtic and Lecce were believed to have an agreement for a loan until the end of the season, with the Italian club holding a right for a permanent transfer.
Now the Hoops have little time to decide whether the operation is going through, with all the details already agreed.
