Celtic Football Club are reportedly interested in signing the 21-year-old right-back Fernando Fonseca from Porto.
It’s Portuguese outlet Rádio Renascença who reports it today, saying the Scottish side should bid two million euros for the player.
Renascença claims that Celtic see Fonseca as a replacement for Mikael Lustig, whose contract with the Hoops is expiring at the end of the season.
They take claims from the Daily Record to show that Lustig’s recent performances have convinced Celtic to go after a new right-back, so Fonseca would be that guy.
Fernando Fonseca is actually part of Porto’s B squad, and isn’t a starter in that reserve team. So although Renascença don’t say if the Dragons would accept such bid or not, it would make sense if they did, as they would get two million for a player who’s never used by the first team.
Renascença claims that Fonseca was in Turin to sign for Juventus last summer, but ended up returning to Porto as the clubs couldn’t agree on a purchase option related to a loan.
