Josip Brekalo’s stint at Fiorentina hasn’t gone to plan and could be ending soon. The Croatian spent a half of last season on loan at Hajduk Split and has returned to Fiorentina, where has been on the bench in the first two Serie A games.

Corriere Fiorentino have, today, reported about Celtic’s liking for the winger, who once had quite an impressive stint at Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga.

Celtic are said to carry an ‘interest’ in Brekalo but there is a lingering threat. Other Serie A clubs are alo keen on 26-year-old, who is likely to depart Fiorentina as La Viola could use the money for potential incomings.

Serie A clubs have come up with loan offers for Brekalo, with Celtic yet to come forward with a concrete approach.

In his time at Fiorentina so far, Brekalo has scored only once in close to 30 games but he did score twice during his loan stint at Hajduk Split last season.

A loan would be available for Brendan Rodgers’ side, and now it’s down to Celtic to decide whether to convert this reported interest into an offer.
