Celtic have shown interest in bringing Chivas de Guadalajara star Armando González to Celtic Park in the summer. Martin O’Neill’s side have to be wary of the competition from Borussia Dortmund.

That’s according to Tuesday’s edition of Bild, who cover Celtic and the latest on BVB.

On February 21st, Sport Witness relayed news from Mexico of O’Neill’s side interest in the 22-year-old.

The same source explained West Ham United and Barcelona are also in the picture with Celtic.

Two days later, Sport Witness covered claims that Celtic’s approach not concrete yet. The Bundesliga side can take advantage of this to try and sign the striker after this season.

Bild’s report mainly focuses on the German club’s desire to bring the Mexico international to the Signal Iduna Park.

Celtic to battle with Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund are planning to make significant changes to their squad next season. Their manager, Niko Kovač, and sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, have prepared a plan.

BVB scouts are actively looking at several players, including González, who is in the target list to improve the attack in the next window. These officials have observed him closely on several occasions.

Kovač’s side are seriously considering signing the Mexican. That’s mainly because his contract expires in the summer and he’ll available on a free transfer.

According to the report, a move to Germany seems to be top of the player’s list. Borussia Dortmund aren’t alone as Celtic, West Ham, Barcelona and Feyenoord are in the mix.

In short, O’Neill’s side have lined up for a battle with BVB and others to sign González.

Our take: Why González can be bargain for Celtic

The Mexican has managed 18 goals and one assist from 27 matches in all competitions for Guadalajara.

This, coupled with his contract situation makes him an attractive market opportunity for Celtic and other clubs in the summer. The Scottish club will have to convince González to stand a chance.

According to Transfermarkt, the player is valued at €7m and is represented by Roc Nation Sports, who now represent some of the biggest names in the game.
