Celtic’s interest in Farès Ghedjemis appears to have survived a January rejection, a promotion-winning campaign and a sharp rise in the player’s valuation.
The Scottish champions pushed to sign the Frosinone winger during the winter transfer window and even submitted an offer which looked capable of getting a deal done.
However, the move ultimately collapsed when the player decided he wanted to remain in Italy and help Frosinone secure promotion to Serie A.
Four months later, Celtic have not disappeared from the picture.
Italian journalist Roberto De Luca reports the Hoops’ interest in Ghedjemis “has not faded at all” and claims the club could soon re-establish contacts for the Algerian winger.
Celtic keeping tabs after January disappointment
The update is notable because the situation has changed significantly since Celtic’s approach.
Ghedjemis’ decision to stay has paid off handsomely. The 23-year-old played a major role in Frosinone’s promotion campaign, scoring 15 goals and adding three assists in 38 Serie B appearances as the club finished second and secured an immediate return to the top flight.
His form was particularly impressive in the second half of the season. Nine of those goals arrived in 2026, helping transform him from a promising signing into one of Serie B’s most productive attacking players.
Of course that rise has not gone unnoticed. Frosinone officials have already stated publicly that the player’s value has increased dramatically since January.
Reports in Italy have suggested the club now value him at around €15m (£12.7m), well above the figures discussed during Celtic’s winter pursuit.
What happens next?
Farès Ghedjemis is currently away with Algeria at a pre-World Cup training camp, another factor which could further boost his profile ahead of the summer market.
That international exposure is one reason why Celtic’s task may be more difficult than it was a few months ago. Since rejecting the move to Glasgow, the winger has earned promotion, enhanced his reputation and strengthened his position in the market.
Even so, De Luca’s information suggests Celtic are not ready to abandon the chase.
Whether that leads to a fresh offer remains to be seen. However, despite the player’s January decision and the significant increase in his valuation, the Scottish champions continue to monitor a player they clearly rated highly enough to pursue once already.
