Celtic were successful in retaining the title after Martin O’Neill’s side beat Hearts 3-1 at Celtic Park.

Celtic will now focus on the Scottish Cup final against Dunfermline Athletic on Saturday. Behind the scenes, they are also working on reshaping their squad for next season.

Marcelo Saracchi arrived at Celtic Park on loan from Boca Juniors last summer. His agent, Marcelo Tejera, has already confirmed O’Neill’s side want to buy him.

Earlier this week, Sport Witness covered claims from Argentina that Celtic are keen to retain the Uruguay international. Boca Juniors, for their part, are waiting for a formal offer for the left-back.

Celtic keen on South American youngster

Marcelo Saracchi isn’t the only Uruguayan on the Scottish Premiership winners’ agenda for the summer.

That’s according to journalist Rodri Vázquez, and Uruguay’s Sport 890 took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to cover the latest on Celtic’s new target.

He claims Martin O’Neill’s side have set their sights on Club Nacional de Football’s Agustín Dos Santos.

Vázquez reports Celtic have already held talks with both the Uruguayan club and the 18-year-old’s agent.

He makes no mention of whether the player, his club or both are open to doing business with Celtic in the upcoming window. If yes, there’s no indication of a fee needed to sign the young Uruguayan.

Who is Agustín Dos Santos

The midfielder is a son of 34-year-old Jonathan dos Santos, who joined CA Progreso on a free transfer in January.

Agustín Dos Santos came up through the ranks of Club Nacional’s academy and made his way into the first team in 2025.

He played 149 minutes from four matches last year and has enjoyed more minutes this year, playing 680 minutes from 14 matches so far.

In September 2024, the teenager signed a new contract with his club until December 2027. Transfermarkt value the youngster at €450k.

Taking his contract into account, Celtic could sign him for a reasonable price, as long as Club Nacional are open to doing business.
