Unless you actively watch Celtic’s U17s, the name Vincent Angelini won’t mean a lot, as the goalkeeper has yet to make an appearance for Neil Lennon’s side, which is somewhat understandable seeing as he’s still only 17.
Vasilis Barkas, Scott Bain and Conor Hazard are the options Lennon has been rotating.
However, there are some who have taken notice about one aspect of the Celtic youngster’s future, including Everton, Manchester United and Southampton, and that’s the fact he’s out of contract in the summer.
TuttoMercatoWeb explain that despite him being British and no longer being an EU citizen, Angelini has ‘an Italian father’, meaning he also has a passport, much to the delight of Serie A sides as well.
Renewal talks with Celtic ‘aren’t going through’, meaning there’s a good chance he could leave, and the website explain Everton, Manchester United, Southampton, Lazio, Atalanta and Milan have all made ‘contact’to understand the feasibility of the deal’.
Regarding the player’s preference, it’s hinted he could snub moves to Goodison Park, Old Trafford or St Mary’s as he ‘would like to try the Italian experience and arrive in his homeland’.
Either way, he’s ‘ready to leave Celtic as a free opportunity’.
It’ll now be up to the likes of Ed Woodward, Marcel Brands or even Matt Crocker to be convincing enough to get the Celtic youngster to forego his desire and remain in the United Kingdom.
