Malmo FF attacker Sead Haksabanovic is on the verge of leaving the Swedish club just 18 months after joining from Celtic.
Signed by Ange Postecoglou during the 2022 summer window, the Swede had an forgettable spell at Celtic Park. There were big hopes he’d be able to shine in Glasgow, but he never really hit the levels many expected him to at Celtic.
Fotbollskanalen have reported on developments regarding Haksabanovic’s Malmo future. The 26-year-old signed from Celtic with high hopes, but has disappointed since returning to his home country.
Malmo paid Celtic a transfer fee in the region of €2m, a hefty investment for an Allsvenskan club.
In March he’d gone on record to say he was happy with his move away from Scotland after struggling during this time there.
However, he’s failed to convince since leaving Celtic and could be on the move again.
The Swedish media outlet say an unnamed South Korean club are showing interest in Haksabanovic, and there’s even an offer. The player is considering whether to accept this proposal and put his nightmare stay with Malmo behind him.
Ex Celtic forward offered lucrative contract
A lucrative contract has been offered to the ex-Celtic forward. He’s now warming to the idea of playing in Asia.
Since arriving at Malmo, Haksabanovic has scored just four goals in 25 appearances. Last week he was benched for the Europa League loss to Red Star Belgrade, playing just over 30 minutes of the tie.
His record whilst at Celtic was similar with four goals in 40 games. This resulted in the Scottish Premiership club loaning him to Stoke City during the 2023/24 season. Haksabanovic played 21 times for the Championship side before returning to Celtic Park that summer.
However, the then Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers didn’t see the attacker in his long-term plans.
Haksabanovic is contracted until June 2028, but it seems his time with the Swedish giants is coming to an end.
