Diego Laxalt moved to Celtic at the end of the last transfer window, on loan for the season from AC Milan.

It was a dry loan, meaning there’s no option for Neil Lennon’s side to make the move permanent. Should Celtic wish to do so then they’ll need to go into negotiations with the Rossoneri.

Il Milanista report that Lennon has been satisfied with Laxalt’s performances so far this season. The 27-year-old has made 16 appearances for Celtic in the current campaign, his most recent in the 1-0 Scottish Premiership loss to Rangers at the weekend.

According to the claims, Celtic are considering making an effort to sign the fullback, but first they need to know who their manager will be next season. As far as Il Milanista are concerned, Lennon’s days are numbered, and if he does face the sack then his replacement will be key when it comes to deciding over Laxalt.

Given that, it’s thought Laxalt could return to Milan, with a move back to Celtic then being negotiated once a new manager is in place and has assessed his squad.

The Serie A club want ‘around €8m’.

Also with regards to Celtic and AC Milan, Il Messaggero report Kristoffer Ajer remains a target, although he’s not the Italian club’s first choice in January.
