Celtic and Rangers are trying to bring Brøndby IF’s Benjamin Tahirović to Celtic Park and Ibrox respectively in the summer.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina international joined Brøndby IF from Ajax in February 2025. Prior to that, Sport Witness relayed news that Celtic showed keen interest in him.
Martin O’Neill’s side are back in the mix and join Rangers and other clubs in the transfer race.
His performances for the Danish club have seen him attract interest from a few European teams. The midfielder played 1,608 minutes from 32 matches this season.

SportSport cover the latest on interest from Martin O’Neill’s side and Danny Röhl’s side in Benjamin Tahirović.
The same source earlier reported FC Porto as being keen, with Celtic and Rangers interest mentioned. It’s stated Celtic have now decided to ‘go on the hunt’ for the 25-year-old.
Amid interest from Rangers, Porto and others, Martin O’Neill’s side are ‘currently in the best position’ to sign him. In other words, the Celtic Park club are ahead of the Ibrox club and the rest.
Celtic are ready to negotiate with the Danish club are preparing an offer. Brøndby IF are demanding a lot, without a mention of their request.
Tahirović will represent his country at the World Cup, a berth they secured after beating Italy in March. If he were to impress in the tournament, his price could rise and attract more clubs.
Therefore, the Superliga side are in no rush to sell him as other unnamed clubs have reportedly initiated contact sign the player.
Contract, value and agent info
Benjamin Tahirović has a contract expiring in 2028 and his value, as per Transfermarkt, is €4.5m. The highest value was €6m in December 2023, when he was at Ajax.
